The challenges that bring clients to therapy vary greatly. Maybe you have hit a bump in the road and need help navigating through a difficult time with a compassionate listener. Many may also be facing other mental health symptoms due to trauma, depression, anxiety, or family issues. As your therapist, I provide a welcoming, non judgmental atmosphere where we can share in the experiences you are facing together. In session, we focus on reducing the symptoms or issues you are facing with evidence based practices and skillful techniques. My experience as a therapist is founded in the Stockton community and I am proud to serve our diverse population with an inclusive and open minded approach. I truly enjoy working with couples and helping them grow into secure relationships with improved communication and attachment. My stance as a therapist is founded in presence and awareness of what is happening in the moment during session. Together, we build tools and skills for you to try outside of therapy and gain traction towards the goals you have set.

Kathy Mero MA, AMFT
Associate Marriage & Family Therapist, AMFT144602
Supervised by Kayleen Ramirez-Garcia, LMFT141883
Sometimes life can temporarily become difficult to navigate alone. Seeking therapy can be a valuable tool to help you create the change you desire. I have experience working with clients in the judicial system such as CPS, substance use programs (outpatient, perinatal and residential) as well as for those needing support with difficult life situations as they arise. We were not meant to do this alone. I have "lived" and professional experience working with sensitive issues such as adoption, ADHD, parenting and co-parenting support, family dynamics, anxiety, depression and overall mental health and well-being.
I use a variety of techniques (CBT, Narrative Theory, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing) that are tailored to meet the individual needs of the client. Meeting a client where they are and understanding where they want to be is my focus and goal. I offer a non judgemental and safe space for you to share, explore and create change.
Although I have over 30 years of experience working with families and individuals in different therapeutic settings, I decided to return to school for my clinical license.
I hold a master's degree in Marriage Family Therapy, and a CCAPP Certification for drugs and alcohol counseling. I am an Associate Marriage Family Therapist with an extensive history in working with at risk families and youth 0-12 years old, co-occurring disorders, mental health and residential and outpatient facilities for substance use. I am looking forward to empowering you in each session to create the desired change you are seeking and exploring what options will work best for you. I believe that the client knows what is best for their situation. My role is to help you get there. I am looking forward to working with you.
